A Former Homeless Who Became The President

Lee Myung Bak was born in Osaka in 1941. Lee was born in a poor family who worked as a laborer. Not infrequently Lee and his family should feel hunger. For daily meals, the Lee family could only eat wheat dregs requested from the distilleries of wheat.

In high school, the Lee family moved to Seoul to seek a better life. However, life in the capital did not make things better. Even so, Lee was determined to make changes. He was very excited to go to school up to college. In the middle of education, Lee also works as a street vendor.

Because of his perseverance, Lee provide excellent achievement during high school. with his achievements, Lee received a scholarship from one of the best universities in South Korea, Korea University. During the lecture, Lee sustain his life by working as a street sweeper.

During college, Lee is very interested in politics because of his desire to make changes. He entered as a member of the student council and are often involved in anti-government protest movement. These actions were arrested and imprisoned in 1964. Note this black makes it difficult to get employment when graduating from college. When he applied in the company Hyundai, Lee barely acceptable. The reason is because the Hyundai fear involved problems with the current government for accepting employee who had been arrested due to join anti-government action.

This does not necessarily make Lee slumped. Lee even wrote a letter to the government. The letter Lee touched the hearts of the current president's secretary. And finally the government wrote a letter to Hyundai to accept Lee.

When working at Hyundai, Lee was known by the nickname "bulldozer". This is because Lee managed to make Hyundai can produce Bulldozer by dismantling other brands and learn. Because of his achievements, Chung Ju Yung appointed him CEO in the construction division.

After working for 30 years at Hyundai, Lee remembered to go into politics. In 1992, Lee entered politics to put themselves forward as a board member. Lee was elected mayor of Seoul in 2002. During his tenure as mayor, Lee is famous as the humble and hardworking. Then in 2007, Lee put themselves forward as candidates and elected President of South Korea period 2008-2013.

Lee gives great achievements in the diplomatic field for South Korea. Lee went to other countries to promote South Korea as a Global Green Korea and Korea. In 2009 alone, he visited 14 countries including the United States and Thailand to attend various conferences and invitations.

Because of this effort, Seoul was chosen to host the G-20 Summit 2010. This moment makes South Korea the only country outside the G-8 which hosted the international forum.

 

"The condition of a person's background is not a big thing that can affect a person's achievement. However, the responsibility of a person who can determine the achievements and even the future."      

The Story Of The Waiter Became Manager At The Largest Hotel Chain In The World

Narrated on a night when a rain storm many years ago, there was an old man and his wife went into a small hotel lobby in Philadelphia to get a place to stay overnight due to rain and storm conditions.
The old man walked in and found a waiter and asked, "can you give us a room here?". The clerk, a friendly man with a smile looked at the couple and explained that there were three conventions in town, "All of our rooms have been full." Then the waiter continued, "But I can not send a nice couple like you out in the rain on this night. Maybe you want to sleep in my room? Not too good, but there is enough to make a comfortable bed for the night. "When the couple hesitated, the young waiter persuaded and said," Do not be confused and feel uncomfortable, think of it as a sign of my introduction? "

2 years since that meeting, the waiter almost forgotten the incident when he received a letter from the old man. It recalled that stormy night and accompanied by a round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to come visit an elderly couple.

The waitress met a man who invited him in New York, and brought the maid to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. The old man pointed to a magnificent new building, where such a luxury castle with towers reaching to the sky.

"That," said the old man to the clerk. The old man continued, "it is a hotel I have just built for you to manage." The waiter was surprised and replied, "You must be kidding." Then the old man replied with a grin, "I sure do."

Long story short, the name of the old man was William Waldorf Astor, and the magnificent structure is an early form of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, which now has become a major hotel chain worldwide.
